$10 ACEO Hooded Warbler

This is a hooded warbler. So named because it warbles...as opposed to yodelling. If it yodelled, it would probably be in the record books. This colorful little creation can be yours if ya click that little button down there. 2.5 x 3.5 ACEO acrylic on foamboard.............. $10 PP

$10 ACEO Red-Tailed Hawk

Raptors are awesome birds to watch. It may seem a bit morbid, but it is absolutely unforgetable to observe one of these birds attack and capture it's pray. I can't remember if I've seen that happen or not. This would make a marvelous addition to you birds of prey collection (or you could start one). 2.5 x 3.5 ACEO acrylic on foamboard ....... $10 PP

$10 ACEO Western Tanager

Tanagers are splendid birds. They come in a myriad of colors, don't eat much, and are potty trained. I loved to watch them down in Costa Rica, but I find that Texas has a wealth of these little boogers, too. He would look just grand, sitting on a mini easel on your TV.'

WOOD DUCK

Years ago, my father-in-law was a big hunter. I was too, sort of, but I really hated to kill stuff. We would duck hunt down on the Houston River in Louisiana, and one outing we killed a couple of these ducks. I remember how it almost broke my heart to see how beautiful they were...and I had gone and shot one. However, he was absolutely delicious!!! P.S, I don't hunt any more. I paint em.

KILLDEER

Killdeers are fun to watch, scurrying around with them scrawny little legs. I once found a little nest out in a field by my nursery as I was mowing it. I found it because the Momma bird was making such a big commotion, flopping around and flapping her wings. Not near the nest, but away fom it...drawing my attention away from her brood. I knew what she was doing though, and scouted around till I found the nest, I put a red plastic tape around the nest, about 10 feet out so nobody would disturb it. No one did, they hatched, grew up, and hopefully went on to a happy killdeer life. Here's my little painting. (Sep 17)

Great Egret

I've always considered egrets to be one of the most graceful birds on the entire planet. Maybe it's because they're slender and white and showy or maybe it's because I'm such a klutz that even a doorknob looks graceful. Anyway, here's my little rendition of an egret. (Sep 16)

$10 ACEO....Cardinal

This is the first of the "Ten Buck ACEOs" that I'll be offering each day until the first of the year. For the rest of September, I'll be featuring "Birds of Texas". This is a cardinal...always one of my favorite birds. They seem to be rather friendly and usually serve to brighten up my day. The male is the showy red and the female is a less colorful reddish brown. Many species of birds are like this...the male being the flashy, show-off and the female more on the drab side. Is it my imagination, but isn't that sorta opposite the way it is in humans?

Fuschia

Fuschia has always been one of my favorite flowers. I had a nursery in Louisiana back in the 70s and I grew about a dozen different varieties. I had some of the prettiest mini-baskets of fuschia this side of Natchez. I painted this one a few months back, and, to tell the truth,...I kinda hate to sell it. But, maybe I'll just go and paint a series of them.

The Aztecs and Mayans and a whole bunch of other cultures really held these little creatures in high esteem...Gods Even!!! Well, don't know about that, but they are so cute and a real joy to watch. POOCHTRAITS.....Dog Blog

I love to paint animals...especially dogs. There seems to be a sparkle of humanity and compassion in the expressions of many dogs that I've known and loved. I started painting pet portraits a while back, and am beginning to discover that some folks would rather have a portrait of their pup more than a portrait of their kids or grandkids. I specialize in dogs, but I will paint whatever pet you have needing his portrait done (I painted a boy and his iguana for a client in Costa Rica...the iguana was easy, the boy, a bit more difficult).

Prices are $60 for a 5x7 and $75 for an 8x10...acrylic on artboard. If there is additional or extensive artwork required, that fee may be higher. I would need a crisp jpeg image and a $20 deposit. The above prices include shipping to all the U.S. and a $5 donation to my local animal rescue service. Contact me at jpolderndirt2@yahoo.com for further details.

Getting Set Up...Shipping From Texas

If you've noticed, I've haven't been selling any artwork on my regular blog. Two reasons for this...One, James Parker Art is to feature some of my art, share the art and blogs of other, more talented artists, and to have fun. Two, it is not only quite expensive to ship from Costa Rica, it is often quite risky. And some folks just don't like to buy "out of country". So, I have arranged for my sister to ship next day Priority from Austin. I will soon (around Mid-May) return to the States and attempt a new adventure. I plan to have a "Roving Studio" going from California to Arizona to Austin (my third home) to Lake Charles/Sulphur, Louisiana (my first home), to Mobile, to Orlando (my fourth home) and back to Costa Rica/Panama (my second home).

I don't own any homes. I don't own any property. Nor will I. God didn't supply any deeds with His Creation. So I just mooch. I have family and friends all over that will allow me to stay a few days and paint....so long as I behave, pick up after myself, and move on. Friends and relatives are like fish... after three days they can really stink. And there's always the YMCA and a few Missions I know.

But Mooching still takes money, and that's what this site is for. When I get everything set up, PayPal, Etsy, etc. I will start posting and try to sell something. Hopefully, someone will feel sorry for me and buy something. Should be around the first of April.

At 62, you may think I'm crazy to go hopping. You're only as young as you feel. I feel 20. The Father can call me tomorrow, but I live for Him today

Keep ya posted. Strive to be happy. See ya down the road. Your buddy in the rainforest (and soon to be who knows where)
